I wonder why I don't seem to have anything against him anymore. I hated him after finishing HBP. Yes, he kept Stan in prison for a time and he ... forced Percy to go to his family at Christmas?, but that all seems rather harmless right now. I will have to reread. (I always thought he was sexy.)

I think he's a bastard, but an interesting bastard, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of him in fic.

Too many thoughts on Scrimgeour j_lunatic January 3 2007, 03:47:20 UTC
1) Could Rufus S. rather than Rubeus H. be the "red death" the alchemy theorists are predicting for Book Seven?

2) We are overdue to meet an Auror from the First War who used the Unforgivable Curses eagerly (as opposed to Moody's reluctance to use them), and I figure Scrimgeour and Frank and Alice Longbottom are the candidates for this role. Could this be what Dumbledore meant when he referred to S. as "a man of action"?

3) I have no thoughts on Scrimgeour's mother, but for a while I had a theory that S. is Alice's uncle and thus Neville's great-uncle. And while I'm not as sold on this theory any more, I'm still trying to write a Year Seven story in which S. tries to set up his great-nephew as an It Boy to rival Harry. (A draft of the first chapter is in my journal, if anyone wants to read/comment on it.)

4) Are there any indications/theories of how Brutus Scrimgeour (author of The Beater's Bible) is related to Rufus ( ... )

May be commenting on some of the other bits later, but brain's a bit too dead to do more than the one that most jumped out to me, just now. Number two? Hells yes. I'm very much a fan of the idea that Rufus did find the Unforgiveables most useful (particularly the Imperius, because Rufus + control = lurve), and think it'd be most interesting to have some legalization of everyone's favorite curses. Also tend to think that there's been some sort of lingering effect from these that Rufus may or may not conciously recognize (or may refuse to recognize). But then, that's mucho speculation on my part.

Interesting thought regarding the connection to Alice; I confess myself quite intrigued. And adding further support to the love of his impatience. Someone's got to be tired of that pair, after all. >.<

I rather feel the need to say that these comments themselves are most excellent. :D Scrimgeour-talk makes for much happiness, aye.

MAY draw him if I have the time, gasp and cookie-pressies for you. There's a war going on against the Gryffindors, thass why. Lazy otherwise. Michael Madsen looked a lot like him getting out of the carriage in Blueberry/Renegade, given this picture in the TV-mag, so we'll seeses. And this with all the related "kid should really be less of an arse, y'know?" options ticked, too.

Oh, and the poll address has something wonky wrong with it, I think. No resultses for anyone. I also forgot to say I've never written him willingly, just that people in Lumos think I do, or something.

Good luck with your community here. Phineas may or may not drop by again when have time. Meaning, in a few years by the look of things.

Hrmmmm, cuh-razy poll of screwed-doom. *shakes fist*

And I s'pose that, while you're here, you should get some sort of cookie for having been rated as Rufus... with the Phineas. And now brain tries to make connections between the two, which doesn't exactly please Rufus. ;)

By the bye? War against the Gryffs is always a good thing. :D This drawing idea continues to intrigue, and I just looked at some piccies of Masden in said movie-age. On the last one, gots to say 'da-zamn,' because some of those really are quite fitting. O_o And now I can't stop looking at some of 'em, gak. Thank yeh for pointing, aheh.

I'm the missing link from Rufusdom to Phineasity? And now my brain tries to keep dirty thoughts from appearing through some strange pathways relating to the two. Yikes. Besides, you know people were deluded on my Rufusness.

Rage against the dying of the light, or Gryffindors, either will do. But I'm glad you see what I saw in relation to Madsen, so that's vaguely what you'll get, I hope. This is basically what the pic was, only it was cut so you mostly only saw the open door and a bit of the windows, suggesting more wizardly coaches. His face is too broad or wide or something for my idea of Rufus, where your Lionel Luthor (recently also seen in Gremlins 2...) wins out, but for the general starting point it works ( ... )
