The effects of eating copious amounts of chocolate are that you are left with a bouncing ball of energy. Laura made a mental note to get less chocolate for the fondue next time, as she watched her younger sister running around the table, trying to catch their cat. The feline seemed to have deemed the child way too hyper for its liking and was therefore doing everything to escape getting caught.
In the end Whiskers, the cat, decided it had had enough exercise, and with one graceful jump leaped from the sofa onto the china cabinet, out of reach from Lily’s grabby hands. It looked down on them from its perch on the cabinet. Laura thought it looked rather smug at the way the child stopped and pouted at it.
“I don’t think Whiskers wants to play anymore”, Laura told her sister. Lily looked at her, still pouting. Suddenly, the pout turned into a grin and in a flash, the child was on top of her sister, pushing her backwards on the couch, her little feet digging painfully into Laura’s legs. The younger’s hands found their way to Laura’s face, prodding her with still chocolate sticky fingers and trying to lick her nose. Laura screamed as she tried to hold Lily’s face as far from herself as she could without hurting the child, who was surprisingly strong on her sugar rush.
“Lily!” Laura screamed again, laughing as the child managed to push her thumb past her lips. She could taste the slight hint of chocolate on her tongue before successfully wrestle her sister down onto the couch next to her, ignoring the accidental kick to her ribs. She managed to keep the six year-old down with her hands. “You’re so gross, you know that?” She said, still laughing. Lily just looked at her grinning.
“More chocolate, please?”
“NO!”
