As if I didn't have enough shit happening right now, my Maytag washer has decided to piss all over my laundry room floor.  It has actually been getting worse and worse for about 4 years now, and back when I tried to repair it myself a few years ago, all of the critical parts are shitty made in China plastic.  Typical.  My Mom's old washer and dryer ( Read more... )

Go front loader. Best decision we ever made.

Thanks. I do plan on checking into various options. I'm not too upset about my current washer since I think I paid less than 300 for just a basic top loader. But I want something that can easily handle any article of laundry including a large bed spread when I get a new one.

My concern with front loaders is that my brother had one where it would leak in such a way that water would get stagnant/musty in it.

By the way, Happy Birthday!

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm gonna go hug my kitty hard now. :(

Gotta say front loader. Ours does very well and handles the comforter without a problem. Water efficient too. Al insists on leaving the door open after a wash to prevent the buildup of mildew. He saw it online somewhere, but I'm not so sure it's needed.

We use afresh tablets or tide washer cleaner. It really keeps the washer smelling nice.

Hmmmm. Seems like I made a post just like this a couple of years ago. My first washer was about 20 years old when I bought it from a friend for $50. It lasted another 10 years. I then bought a new one. It crapped out in 7. I could have had it repaired, but the cost was 2/3 that of a new one.

We have a high-efficiency top-loader w/o the agitator. Those things are great for comforters and fursuits!
