the hare was just so sure that he would beat the tortoise no matter what. he thought that he could take a nap and still beat the tortoise. the story is to teach people to watch their ass.

i know what the story and the moral is about. i can understand stopping and taking a breather from being tired, but it doesnt make sense to sleep during a race... that is just stupid.
