In-Game Character Information
Name Chrysippus "Chris" Antfortas
Series: Daughters of the Moon
Age: 18 (ghost)
Personality:
Chris projects an aura of awkwardness. He never seems to quite fit no matter what situation he is thrown into. However, he is also polite, courteous, and does his best not to step on any toes. He'd be the first one to try and help someone with a problem, and the last one to walk away from someone who needs a hand.
However, despite his well intentions and general amiably, Chris also has a few notable flaws. He occasionally becomes so involved with the lives of other people that he forgets his own, to the point of ignoring those he cares about because it's more important that he helps others with their problems instead of attempting to solve his own. He has a constant need to prove himself to his peers, stemmed mainly from his own insecurities that are born from him being a near-squib in a pureblooded family. Chris lacks direction and mentorship in his life, and because of that he throws himself into far too many projects and stetches himself thin. He doesn't know what he wants out of life but he assumes what those around him want and because of that he has difficulties with maintaining relationships, platonic or otherwise.
Chris also has a huge inferiority complex stemmed from his older brother's, Dexileos, premature death. His family invested all of their desires and resources on his older sibling, and Chris, who had little to no magic potential, spent most of his life in the shadows of the Antfortas' family legacy. Because of this, he never feels like he's worth anything, and overcompensates when he's given a moment to shine.
Background:
Chrysippus, or "Chris", is the youngest son of the Antfortas family, an ancient and noble house that has been viewed by the wizarding community as somewhat infamous for their suspected ties to dark magic and producing extremely powerful dark wizards throughout the generations. He grew up under intense pressure and scrutiny from not only his family, but his peers and the wealthier wizarding social circles. He was expected to be perfect, an excellent wizard, and uphold the traditions of his family, like his older brother Dexileos, who was the epitome of what the Antfortas house was supposed to stand for.
Chris was born practically a squib. He had near no magical abilities, and while he did excel in the wandless aspects of magic such as potions, herbology, and care for magical creatures, it wasn't enough for his parents. For the majority of his childhood, the Antfortas family ignored Chris's existance, he was an embarassment, and embarassments were to be kept behind closed doors. Because of his family's disinterest, and his own magical inadequacy, Chris began to develop a curiosity about the muggle world. When he wasn't at school, he'd often spend most of his time in London, taking in all the ways to survive in a world without being able to use magic. Because of this, Chris didn't develop the more extreme prejudices of his family, mainly because his family didn't feel the need to bother with instilling them. Chris was ostracized from his family, an afterthought, until his brother Dexileos died.
Dexileos was killed in a duel against another heir to a pureblooded family after a fight broke out in a bar while he was visiting the Antfortas home over the summer holiday after Chris's sixth year. Chris was forced to watch his brother die without being able to step in as his second due to his lack of magical power. And while the other heir was immediately thrown into Azkaban, Chris's family had to deal with their entire hopes being lost in a single night. His parents put their blame on Chris, constantly berating and guilt tripping him to the point where Chris actually believed their accusations. Feeling responsible for his brother's demise, Chris dedicated himself to finding any means to gain magical talent and become the son his family desired.
Desperate, Chris went through the Antrfortas' family heirlooms and ancient texts, discovering something that appeared to be the answer to all of his problems, a document entitled the Secret Scroll. The scroll promised power, limitless magic, and...was teeming with Dark Magic. Torn, Chris ended up taking the scroll with him to Hogwarts, unsure of whether or not to use it.
At school, Chris meant Catty Turner, a supposed muggleborn. Immediately he was attracted to her, However, his attraction turned to horror when he recognized the moon shaped amulet around her neck. The amulet was the insignia of the Adamantis family, a rival pureblooded wizarding house to the Antfortas. While he could guess at Catty's lineage based on that, he didn't want to pursue it, as the two began dating.
No matter how happy Chris was at school or with Catty, the guilt of his brother's death, fueled by his family's accusations, ate at him, and immediately after he graduated, he resolved himself to using the Scroll. As the Scroll was dark magic, it immediately twisted Chris, binding his soul to the document for eternity and using him as an avatar for the evil power. The darkness ate at him, and while Chris received magical power for the first time in his life, his conscious also couldn't allow him to survive. Even more desperate than before, he began looking through the archives for a means to destroy the Scroll. Eventually he found one, but the annihilation of the dark magical object would cost him his life.
The only way to destroy the Scroll would be by magics of its counterpart, an old, moon-shaped amulet. Catty's amulet. Resolved, and firmly believing that it was the only way, Chris tricked Catty into giving him the amulet, and despite her protests and offers of help, he used it on the scroll, burning it and ending his life in the process.
Blood: Full blood
Preferred House: Slytherin or Hufflepuff
Why you think they belong in this house?
Slytherin: Chris very much subscribes to the philosophy of 'any means to achieve the ends'. If he's pursuing what he believes is the correct purpose, he will do everything he is capable of to ensure that he succeeds. If it means manipulation, deceiving his loved ones, or putting his own life on the line he's willing to do it for his perception of the greater good. He often twists situations, even if it's unintentional, to be more in his favor.
Hufflepuff: Chris is practically the living (or rather, unliving) embodiment of loyalty. He becomes extremely dedicated to causes he cares about, and will work hard and tirelessly until they are accomplished. He is steadfast, and unwavering in his ideals.
School Year: Graduated last year
