i love harry's complete inability to remember anything about magical animals, unless it reminds him of draco.
you had me on pins and needles wondering what the hell happened to bollux up their relationship so quickly, and when we finally find out it makes sense and yet is so stupid, in that believeable "harry and draco can be so stupid because we all know their flaws" way.
and the porlock in the straw was hilarious, even though i don't know what one is, either!
thanks for a delightful read!

Glad you liked it! :D
I found the Porlock on the HP Lexicon. It's from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was a first year text. The Porlock lives in straw near stables, is shy around humans, and guards horses. The funny thing is, I even found a map on the lexicon showing which magical creatures mentioned in the books actually live in the US, and the Porlock isn't one of them. But I figured Draco wouldn't necessarily remember that. Haha.
The Re'em is an American magical creature, though. I wanted to make reference to Bigfoot, because I loved that the Bigfoot is a Yeti, just with bigger feet, and I love that the Yeti/Bigfoot is a big problem with all the Muggle sightings. But I didn't think the ranch was necessarily in the Pacific Northwest.
I obviously spent way too much time reading on the lexicon today. But I wanted to have some legit magical creatures for the ranch! LOL

I can totally picture Draco in a naughty cowboy outfit. Yum.

I can't picture Draco in a cowboy outfit without remembering owens_mom's Just Tell Her You're a Fairy, Harry. Hee.

Hermione didn’t look entirely convinced but apparently couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explain something.
Haha!
He was wearing boots and a cowboy hat. He looked stupid.
Mmmhmmm, sure he did. :P
That was a very thoughtful gift, mate. ;)
