What has two thumbs up and doesn't give a crap?

Name: Jazmine

Age: 16

Personality:

Overall, I’d like to think that I’m a nice person. God knows that I try hard not to judge people, because I know that I don’t like it when people judge me. So what if I’m a little bit silly at times? That’s just who I am. I’m the type of girl who appreciates the small things in life and holds her family and friends dear to her.

I know that I could improve on speaking up. People often tell me that I’m too nice, and that sometimes I let people walk all over me. I tend to agree with them. I also acknowledge the fact that I can be somewhat insecure, but when something bothers or angers me I usually try to hold it in so that I won’t annoy those around me. Inevitably, I do explode on some poor unfortunate soul and I know how unhealthy that is…but that’s how I handle problems. I’m too proud to ask for help and try to wait for it to go away.

The relationship that I have with a lot of people is a very casual one, I poke fun at everyone I love and they do it right back at me because I don’t take things too personally. One thing that makes me happy is when people do call me a geek or a dork. I love to read and write, and I love analyzing my favorite books, movies, and musicals. I know that I’m not the most popular girl in school, mostly because my quirkiness makes most people stay away and my shyness acts a bit like a barrier to some. I don’t have a boyfriend right now, but that’s fine with me because I don’t need a man to make me happy. As long as I have my family, friends, and a way to entertain my mind…I’m good!

Quirks:

I have this little hop/dance that I do when I’m feeling particularly excited. This is actually how my mom recognized me when she was looking for me in the parking lot after I watched Jesus Christ Superstar at this huge theater. Also, my favorite words to use as an insult are “tonto” and “bobo”, both of which are Spanish for “fool” and “silly”. When I get nervous, I talk at lightning speed…something that has lowered my scores when delivering speeches/monologues in my Public Speaking class.

Strengths:

Protective, loving, compassionate, creative, intelligent.

Weaknesses:

Insecure, immature, sarcastic, moody, naïve.

Fears:

Losing all those that I love and being completely alone in the world, failure in everything I try, and losing my imagination.

Likes:

Books, Broadway musicals, Disney movies, the occult, learning about Native American/Mexican history, goofing off with friends, my cellphone, internet memes, dreaming, taking walks, the beach, and my baby niece.

Dislikes:

Spiders, math, liars, Paula Abdul, swearing (even though I do it all the time), dancing, falling, cold weather, being hit on by “just friends” and strangers, and writer’s block.

Hobbies:

Reading, writing, drawing, baking, singing, acting, expressing my love for my fandoms in unconventional ways (such as creating fake Wikipedia pages for fan characters in MS Paint or IM-based role-playing games), and spazzing out.

Favorites:

Band/Musician(s):

I listen to a wide variety of music, ranging from European symphonic metal to acoustic folk to psychedelic and acid rock. Currently I am huge on Jack Johnson, The Beatles, The Doors, the Hair soundtrack, and Joni Mitchell.

Book(s):

My favorite book is always changing, but at the moment it is Here On Earth by Alice Hoffman. (It’s an updated version of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, for those of you who are interested.) My favorite series is the Harry Potter series.

Movie(s):

My favorite movie would probably be The Whale Rider. It’s a movie that takes place in New Zealand where a Maori girl has the ability to communicate with whales, and she is supposed to be the next leader of her tribe but as she is female, she cannot inherit the role. I’m also in love with Disney movies like Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch.

TV Show(s):

I’m actually not too big on TV outside of Scrubs. If anything, I’ll watch The George Lopez Show or The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, because they’re funny and something that I can watch with my nephew. I have a very strange obsession with home improvement shows like Clean House, How Clean is Your Home? and Trading Spaces. I don’t understand this at all, because I don’t want to get into the home improvement/interior decoration industry at all.

Scrubs

Favorite character:

This is such a hard decision to make, because they’re all so fabulous! I guess it’s a tie between JD and Dr. Cox. I love JD, because he’s so silly and loveable. His fantasies never fail to entertain me, and I like that he never lost his ability to have fun or to use his imagination. I love Dr. Cox for several reasons. The most obvious one would be that he’s hilarious, with his little rants and insults. I’ve used a couple of his sayings in real life and have stumped the people who annoy me the most. I also love that fact that deep down, beneath all those snide comments, there’s actually a doctor with a heart of gold who just cares. Deeply. He sort of reminds me of one of my closest friends in real life and it makes me smile when we watch Scrubs together because of this.

Favorite episode:

My Musical. At least, this is the one that comes to mind at this very moment. I am a huge musical theatre geek and I had a little fan girl moment when I saw Stephanie D'Abruzzo from Avenue Q guest-star in this episode. All of the songs are a lot of fun, and I even downloaded “Guy Love” to play as my cellphone ringtone.

Favorite quote:

“Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes, it’s all up to you…nothing in this world that’s worth having comes easy.”
- Dr. Kelso

“They call me The Pig, because I say sexist and derogatory things to women.”
- The Todd

“Oh my god! I just said ‘slave’ to my new, black girlfriend!”
- JD (in his head)

Favorite moment:

In My Lunch, when Dr. Cox has that breakdown after a decision of his led to the death of three patients…it was one of the greatest and most heartbreaking moments I’ve ever seen on the show. I actually cried the first time I saw it, and it still pulls at my heartstrings when I watch it. John C. McGinley’s performance was absolutely phenomenal, and this is one moment that stands out above the rest.

Who would you most likely get along with if you were a staff member of Sacred Heart and why?:

As much as I’d hate to admit it, I would probably get on Cox’s nerves…so I know that we probably would not get along. I think that I would get along with Turk and JD, because I love doing silly things with my friends and I think that we’d have a blast hanging out together. I know that we’d definitely have a great time geeking out over certain obsessions of ours, and they just remind me of the friends I currently have at school.

Which character do you think that you relate to the most?:

I don’t know, maybe JD or perhaps Carla? I’m not very good when it comes to romantic situations, and I’m often lost in my own little world. At the same time, I relate to Carla because we’re both sensitive about our ethnicities (I’ve got six different ones) and I like to help out my family and friends.

Anything else we need to know?:

Nothing at the moment.
