About six months after Kate was born I went out of town for a full-week conference. Things were perking along just fine until someone with a baby in a stroller went by. Just under a month after Sabrina was born, we did Gaylaxicon in Boston and Diana kicked me out of the house to go. And MAN, just walking through the airport and hearing a baby gurgle or cry set off parental mode. It was a bit of a rough trip that way.

It doesn't change. I still feel all parental about all three of mine. And when I hear -any- cry I come on alert.

I was just at a get-together with friends tonight, and one of the other women there had her boyfriend's baby with her for his visitation weekend.

I found myself yearning, and the baby crawled over to me, and I got some baby snuggles in. Pure joy.
