Training starts NOW.

So after hosting a BBQ with a couple people that ended WAY later than expected, I got up today and did absolutely nothing (well, unless random internet searches, some Chrono Trigger and reading the paper count as something . . .) until 6 pm ( Read more... )

Seeing as you want to get into shape for spring/summer, a friend of mine showed me this a few weeks back... http://www.crossfit.com/

it's army/elite forces type training that can be used for most anything (sports, job training for cops, military training during off time) as long as you know how to scale to your level..etc

They post a new workout every day, for you to follow. always changing.

it usually pushes to a dead stop where you can barely walk towards the end... it feels great... until the next day when you're paying for it.

Could be something that would interest you. Hope things are well, best of luck!

Dude that shit is off the hook!

Their philosophy is awesome! They figure that training you to do one thing really well is pointless and wrong. They advocate being good at doing EVERYTHING even if you've never done it before. Totally what I want in a fitness routine.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. That's pretty sweet. (course, now I need to figure out a way to get a chin up bar in my basement. . .)

Cheers,

Cote

You can get chin-up bars that go in your doorjamb and then stays by the use of pressure... Dev always used one at home...
Where are you running? Just around the streets or some sort of path? Also, alternating weights and cardio helps get a person fit quick. Ha. Wish I had some sort of degree in this so I could get paid to give people advice. :p
Anyway, good luck with the training!

I shall have to look into these doorjamb chin up bars. . .

And I'm running in a semi-random pattern of paths, streets, dirt trails and grass strips. I always try to keep to the softer stuff if I can since I have an unfortunate tendency to develop shinsplints if I run on the hard stuff for too long.

As to the weights . . . I'll think about that once I've got through my hundred pushups.

I hear they sell degrees in that sort of thing . . . ;-)

Cheers,

Cote

Ps If you hadn't gone back that far, the dots and stuff after my signature is my attempt to teach myself Morse code. It's usually whatever I'm drinking at the time. In case you were wondering ;-).
