1995- 90s Britpop is in full swing as is my anglophilia. I buy everything British and shun anything American (except Weezer and Velocity Girl

ditto on this! these were my high school years and also the peak of my concert going! since I was too young to even get a part-time job, my poor dad shelled out THOUSANDS for imports. I used to rush to Melrose Music every Tuesday after school to buy up everything. all the employees knew me by name & would put all the promotional posters & such aside for me.

best time of my life!

p.s. the only American stuff I was listening to at the time: Weezer & Pavement & Jawbreaker. and a few years later.. Jonathan Fire*Eater.

they were good times, weren't they? my Melrose Music was Poo Bah in Pasadena. like you, i went in there every Tuesday and bought pretty much every new import that they brought in. for me, Melrose Music was a backup store (after Poo Bah and Aron's Records) but they had some pretty good gems there. did you go to the Gene instore signing they had when their second album came out? I was there! still got my signed stuff too!

I never went to Poo Bah. is that still around?

yes! I was such a huge Gene fan!! and I was there. it's so sad, i've stopped following all these bands. the last time I saw Gene was in 2001 at the Troubadour, where a riot ensued when Moz entered the building.. hehe!
