Eye gunk dissolver?

Does anyone know of anything that can act as a solvent to dissolve Bunsens' chewing -gum style eye gunk? I've tried tea - doesn't work - all the rubbing is making his skin very sore and the fur comes off with the gunk so it's not a pretty sight - he's a brave bun and takes the  daily de-gunking in his stride but I hate to see the skin around his

Could you make the fur underneath 'slick'? I would check with a vet but olive oil or Vaseline so the gunk would slide off?

Trying the Olive oil! Will repawt back but early signs are gud!
