Well, this here's the last post I'll be making from Japan. Three days from now I'll be back in the U.S. Hopefully the typhoon that's here will be gone by then

I have a dumb Japanese question for you. If I wanted to come up with a Japanese word that meant "fire god", how would I do that. Looking around, I found fire = kaji and god = kami, so maybe something like kajikami or kamikaji? I don't know how they append words together. Also - is there a more specific fire god (proper name) out there that you know of? Thanks.

Hey! My mail is my name to the yahoo and you know the rest.
Lessee, How accurate do you want to be? If you just wanted a basic "fire god" kind of quick and dirty two character thing then kaji-kami would work. In Japanese the modifier always goes before the modified (to address the how do they append word thing).
A more accurate version might be kajinokami, written like kaji-no-kami in English with the dashes (for no other reason that it's easier to read). The "no" in the middle helps modify the god part to show that it is a specific god of fire.
Haha, you are the awesome! You might want to slap me, but I am refinishing one of my bicycles in orange and red and I wanted to call it the fire god :) Anyhow, let me know when yr down for the next sinema sundae.

But if you want to go hardcore. The actual God of Fire from the Japanese creation myth (from the Kojiki), his name is Kagutsuchi-no-Kami. Here is a decent recap of how he winds up getting killed by his own father because it's really hard to give birth to fire
Hope that helps! Lemmie know if you need anything more...
