I swear I've learnt more about computers in one day through trying to find out why Vista doesn't want to do what I want it to do, and how to make it obey me, than I have in years. The temptation to burst out into maniacal laughter when I finally worked it out was great indeed. At least I think it's obeying me now... it could all be a cunning ploy

For a while last night after that timely crash I was worried my computer was not only sentient, but had a sense of irony!

Good news is I just got off the phone to HP support and my main problem may be an HP issue rather than a Vista one (in which case I get free repairs yay). I'm still having issues doing this Java programming thing through Vista though - apparently windows users aren't expected to be capable of programming lol

Ah well, glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel. And programming through Vista!? I thought they practically sued you or such, LOL!!
