Thought it was a minor scratch or something but a month later it's still ugly, red, and not healing. Dad thinks it may be a brown recluse bite on my forearm. Fun.

Aw geez. When can you get to a doc?

Tmi warning. Stop reading here.

I rather doubt I'll bother with a doc at this point unless it still isn't healing in another week. I've drained a lot of unpleasantness from it with various blades and needles, pretty much daily, though less so for the past week. It's not puffy anymore, and not painful to the touch any more either. And just kind of red now, instead of inflamed and obviously infected. Soooo whatever it was, I think I'm past the worst of it now. May leave a scar but I doubt a doctor could change that now. I don't mind scars anyway. Just going to continue washing it and hitting it with hydrogen peroxide and letting it air at night. If still bothering me by the end of the week, I'll get it checked out.

The drainage is worrisome. It sounds and even looks like the MRSA staph we had around Feb/March which started out looking like a bug bite or a pimple. Chris's got so bad they had to cut his arm open and drain stuff and pack it with string. If it is staph, you'll wanna get some antibiotics in you, stat. Staph is nasty. Srsly. If you get any more, you should definitely have it looked at. Don't wanna lose any limbs over this, seriously. Wash your whole body with antibacterial soap (Dial) every 3rd day or so, wipe flat surface/counters with antibacterial wipes/cleaners (the bottles will say on the back if they kill staph) to kill what remains of it if it is.

was kinda icky last 2 weeks, but not quite to that extent. keeping it clean, going to start keeping it under bandage with neosporin. Probably should have been doing that from the getgo, but oh well. If it isn't clearing up by friday, I'll go see a doc.

Honestly, it doesn't look too bad to me. Granted, take that with a grain of salt because I see down to the bone wounds on a semi-regular basis. Anyway, if you start running a fever or if it starts looking really bad(angry red, foul smelling drainage, increased pain, etc), seek help.

looking better today. and starting tomorrow I'll keep it under a bandage with some neosporin...probably should have been doing that from the getgo, but oh well. any further inflammation will result in a doctor visit, but I think whatever it was, I've mostly healed on my own, albeit slowly.

on that note, I still need to restock my med kit, post-fire. I don't think I have so much as a thermometer right now. Shame on me...

You know you can get thermometers that you don't even have to touch to your skin now? Fucking badass spaceage shit right there!
