Time Warp - Better Late Than Never?

Faith
Anyone - Scooby GangFaith glared at the driver through the privacy glass. They were late. Faith had been doing so well too, being on time all the time, showing up to kick ass and take names and generally being part of the crowd. She was using her newfound wealth to her advantage and sharing… and now her good streak was shot to hell because ( Read more... )

She tried to pull on her boots while running down the stairs, which, as it turns out, is not a good combination. Buffy was only just able to stay upright during the process. "I'll only be gone a few hours," she yelled up to Dawn, "you've got my cell number if you need it. Don't you dare eat all the chocolate while I'm gone!" It was funny how this house made her think Dawn was still only 16.

Fumbling with her earrings, she ran into the kitchen and retreived her bag, before racing to the foyer. Wasn't Faith supposed to be here by now? She pulled on her denim jacket and opened the door, planning to go out and wait on the steps. Except during that simple action she somehow managed to bump into Faith. She backed off quickly, eyes wide, before she realised what had happened. A deep exhale later, and she forced a smile. "Ready as ready can be. We going in style?" She nodded toward the limo.

Faith shrugged as she started back down the steps. "I just figured we could take the Limo for a spin since it hasn't left the garage yet," Faith said pulling open the door before the driver could touch the handle. She slid along the roomy back seat and then slid along the side to sit next to the mini-bar.

She pulled the door open and grabbed out a soda and then two handing one to Buffy. "Plus I was figuring everyone else would be here. You know, Dawn and Xander and everybody…" She gestured with her soda and then popped it open taking a drink. "They meeting later? Or is this a 'Slayers Only' Shopping expedition?"

The limo pulled slowly away from the curb as Buffy shut the door, headed downtown. She looked at Buffy, "Speaking of shopping, where to? I'm not exactly experienced in buying fancy outfits. I'm pretty much a 'tanktops and leather' sort of girl. I think the last time I even wore a dress was when you were up for Homecoming Queen."

Buffy had no objections to taking the Limo. In fact, she took a few whole seconds to stare at the polished vehicle before climbing inside.

She received the soda thankfully, flashing a small grin as she pulled the ringtop and took a sip. "They're gonna meet up with us later. Apparently 10 am is too early for people these days. Ironic, seeing as we used to meet at the Magic Box at 9." She shrugged a bit, while looking distractedly at the Limo's various features.

"I heard there's a new place out on Ark Street - one of those casino-slash-plaza places. You know, where everything's so bright and shiny you're tempted to wear sunglasses? Might be worth a look?"

Faith shook her head and grinned at Buffy, "And they don't even have the 'late night' excuse to use anymore. I went back to the house after patrol last night and woke up like two hours ago."

Listening to Buffy's suggestion, Faith pushed a button to roll down the privacy glass a bit. "We're going to Ark Street." She rolled the glass back up and commented to Buffy, "It takes five minutes to get from your house to downtown. We'll be there in about twenty. Make yourself comfortable."

"But sunglasses huh… they probably won't even let us in. It's not as if we look like we have any money. Kinda funny isn't it?" Faith trailed off and shook her head, "So what kinda deal are we looking for anyway? Besides incredibly expensive, I mean."

"Yeah," Buffy agreed slowly, "I'm getting that everyone likes Lorne. Talked to him on the phone once. Big with the metaphors."

She almost started, not hearing her sister's approach from behind. Not exactly giving her a good Slayer reputation; being snuck up on like that.

The picture of Faith wearing anything resembling sunshine was enough for Buffy to gag. She could probably get away with most colours, but yellow was not one of them.

She glanced quickly at her sister. "Angel," she stated, running her hands over a luscious piece of red fabric in front of her. "Angel is in Vegas with Lorne and the others. Living the high life with the slot machines and neon lights."

Faith just looked at Dawn with a sincere smile, "Yes, yellow is definitely my color. I think I'll take this one." She picked up the horrendous yellow dress and walked forward a few paces before turning back to look at the Summers with a grin ( ... )

Dawn grimaced at the hideous orange dress Faith lifted up. If yellow was not Faith's color, orange definitely was not Dawn's.

"You'll buy us whatever we want?" Dawn perking up after hearing that, avoiding her sister's gaze, acting like she was considering a couple dress on a rack to her right, as she knew the look she would receive after having said that.

When Faith held up the bright orange dress Buffy was very thankful that she hadn't yet taken her sunglasses off. "That," she gestured to the dress, "is hideous. I thought neon died with the 90's." Her lip curled as she imagined Dawn wearing the offending garment. She sighed with relief when Faith put it back on the rack.

"One of these days you're going to have to tell me where all this money flowed from," she said, looking at the other Slayer. "But until then, I'm taking full advantage," she grinned, sliding the long red dress she had picked out off its rack. "I think I'll try this on."

She found a fitting room and slipped into the satiny garment, pressing it over her curves until the material was smooth. She stepped out of the room, seeking the opinions of her sister and Faith. "Well," she said, striking a pose, "is this hot or what?"

"Can I just say, WOW." Dawn said to her sister when she turned hearing Buffy when she came out of the dressing room.

"A definite buy for you sis." Dawn added with a smile. That dress was definitely Buffy. "All you need now are the right pair of shoes, course if you want to go barefoot that is totally an option" Dawn could not help but give her sister a smirk after adding that remark about barefeet.

After Buffy's little modeling exhibition Dawn turned back to the racks of dresses in an effort to find one suitable for her to wear to the Black Tie event.

"What do you guys think of this?" Dawn asked of Buffy and Faith as she removed a satin, amber colored long gown with spaghetti straps that criss-cross and tie in back from one of the racks, holding the dress up in front of her to show it to them.

"Not everything dead stays gone," Faith said with a shrug as Buffy went off to the changing rooms with the red dress. One of these days you'll have to tell me where all this money came from… Yeah, probably, but until then we're going to spend a very large chunk of it. Buffy stepped out of the dressing rooms and struck a pose.

"Lookin' good B," Faith said with a grin, "Red is definitely your color."

Faith groaned at the mention of shoes however. "We have to buy shoes too? At this rate we’ll be shopping all day." Her attention was drawn to the dress Dawn was brandishing at them. It looked good now, but…

"Go try it on if you like it, Dawn," Faith said with another shrug as she browsed through the racks. She was thinking of trying something in black. You could never go wrong with black. She flicked through the rack trying to find something that seemed remotely, Faith-like as the Summers headed back to the dressing rooms.

"You may certainly say 'Wow'," Buffy said, a grin on her face. She smoothed down the sides of the dress and adjusted the haltered neck line. Her smile continued as Faith too approved of the garment.

Green eyes drifted across to Dawn, observing the flashy dress she held in her hands. "I like it," Buffy confirmed with a firm nod. "But it'd look better on. Let's see it, hey?"

She looked across at Faith, a sly grin developing on her lips. "You got a issue with shopping all day? I, personally, don't see the problem. We're in the retail wonderland." Her expression turned solemn, the spark going out of her eyes. "Though I suppose we shouldn't take too long. We still haven't worked out anything about that knife or the demon that used it." Buffy groaned a little as she slunked back to the changerooms.
