Debate begins on whether to ban trans-fats in Snohomish County. Personally, I recognize that the ban is a little extreme and would be happy if all trans-fats are labeled and the information made readily available to consumers (ie: in-restaurant information, not just online resources). I'm not surprised by the results of the socioeconomic integration, since a lot of it depends on where an area is situated. More interesting would be to see how successful this integration of poor and rich is in promoting student achievement versus racial integration.

Yeah, I am not so hot on schools focusing on racial integration as an end goal; IMO it's valuable as a way to measure how accessible and diverse schools are, but is not the end goal. As you say, education of students is the end goal they should be striving for.
