I may be pretty out of the loop, but as far as I can tell Livejournal has really settled down. It's mostly people who used it years ago still, so the maturity level has gone up as younger children and people who are prone to instigate things have moved to Tumblr.
It's good to see you again, would be nice to reconnect.
Hi! Thanks for reading and posting. Good to see you too! That is good to know about the settling down; I think we were in that sweet spot that enjoys a digital platform but dislikes the "Like" button.
Yay! Love the avatar. I would never lock you out because you're awesome. <3 It would be great to be able to keep in touch more effectively since I get a rash from FB.
Maybe a Phoenix feather? :) I have to admit, I recognized your LJ name immediately but I had to go back and look up some entries to be sure. I remembered you'd been in the Navy, but I took a little hiatus myself around the time that you left, so I missed that entirely. Glad to hear that things have come out all right.
I'm doing well. Finally finished grad school and defended my thesis just in time for the economy to crash and all the funding to dry up. So I kept my old job, got engaged, took on a household, wrote a couple novels that I'm trying to publish and co-wrote a screenplay we're trying ship to producers. Nothing selling yet, but trying to publish beats just talking about it.
Congrats on finishing grad school! And I saw a mention of a screenplay on your recent entries - big grats on that too! I'll keep my fingers crossed on that going through - we need more well-written media.
(I'm working on slowly getting re-acquainted with everyone's LJ names - the shifting of identities has become one theme of my research)
I'm still here! I've been awful about updating, lately, but I do read it every day. And I'd like to know more about what you're up to! (And if you were buried by the six feet of snow it sounds like your region of the world just received.)
Yay! Actually, we are far enough away from Buffalo that we didn't get buried; just a few inches. Schadenfreude goes a long way to warming the heart - "At least we're not Buffalo."
