Music mix meme

I should have more to say as I had a really fun, fantastic weekend and I enjoyed BSG and I am still working on the COB/CCW commentary, but I have to finish the farscape_weekly update for the week and the government has made me tired, so this is what you get. Oh, and Joss posted on Whedonesque.

My Frankenstein Mix, made for calikali's Frankenstein Mix Meme.

1. A song that wakes you up in the morning.
Kenny Loggins & Steve Perry - Don't Fight It (mp3). This is one of my favorite "get up off your butt and do something!" songs. It always makes me happy.

2. A song you loved in high school.
Nirvana - Sliver (mp3). This is kind of cheating because this version is off of the Nirvana 4-disc set, but the original copy I had of the song is on a tape that has been worn down with use. AHH introduced this song to me, and it's been my favorite Nirvana song since.

3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.
Romantica - Oscar Wilde (m4a). Please see title.

4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.
Avenue D - 2D2F (mp3). Don't pass out going down on me / or I'll wake you up with a mouth full of pee. I think the lyrics really explain my choice here. The song is not work safe. Heh.

5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.
Mark Geary - Ghosts (mp3). brynnmck and I saw him play live when he opened for Jeffrey Foucault. He's an adorable little Irishman, and MTV will never play his music.

6. A song with a title that ends in y.
Baltimora - Tarzan Boy (mp3). Ha, now you, too, can have this song stuck in your head for days on end! You're welcome!

7. A song that makes you crave something.
Queen - A Kind Of Magic (mp3). Sunshine and a long, empty stretch of freeway.

8. A cover song that you think is better than the original.
The Ataris - The Boys of Summer (mp3). My perfect Buffy/Angel vid idea that I'll likely never get around to. Sigh.

And, because I don't have the originals of either of these available (I have the Henley song on tape), here is an alternate selection:

William Shatner - Common People (mp3). I can't help it, I love Shatner.

9. The original of #8.
Don Henley - The Boys of Summer. And I love me some Don Henley, so I was surprised to prefer the Ataris' version.

And Pulp - Common People. How do you compete with Shatner?

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.
Dave Matthews Band - Fool To Think (mp3). So Buffy/Spike, it hurts. You make a mess of me / Was I a fool / I’d dance a thousand steps for you

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.
Everclear - Summerland (mp3). I think I lost my smile / I think you lost yours, too / we have lost the power to make each other laugh are lyrics that occasionally occur to me, even if I haven't listened to the song in awhile. And, man, I freaking love this whole album.

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.
Enya - On Your Shore (mp3). This song always makes me think of L.A. Story. Yes, because it was used in the movie; that doesn't disqualify it! It's the scene where they're walking together in the garden and they turn into little kids.

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.
Gary Allan - Lovin You Against My Will (mp3). A secret? I wrote a short story based on this song once. And then burned it, but still. Hee.

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.
Aerosmith - Love In An Elevator (mp3). Oh come on, like you all didn't immediately go there.

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.
The Decemberists - Engine Driver (mp3). I am badly addicted to this song.

I'm cooking dinner tonight. I'll let you all know if I burn the house down.
