...Ooooh, there's a fox, in broad daylight. Hello fox, I wonder whether you're the same one we've seen occasionally before ( Read more... )

they also proved their agility by deciding the wall was a perfect place to mate some more

Wow - full marks for enthusiasm!

I know!

March or April is the usual time for cubbing, apparently - though that's following on from mating in "January or early February", and the same source also lists a 53 day gestation period - so a quick count suggests cubs would be born right at the start of that period, in early March...birthday fox kits!

(All the best critters choose March, says the Piscean ;)

We have a vixen who lives in the communal garden, right under our window. Last year, watching her cubs play fighting each other was something of a flat hobby. So cute. :-)

Nice pictures. That said I think the oddly mild winters we've been having have started to mess with the breeding season as I almost permanently see young cubs round our neck of the woods along with hearing the permanent "baby foot first into a blender" sound of them mating all year round.

Proof of how good our double-glazing is then, I think - it looked like they were being vocal at times, but I couldn't hear a thing.

Have managed to find the card reader, so am in the process of uploading the better pics from Dave's camera now....

Now added, if you refresh - I've put up links to the full-size pictures in case any photographer types are interested, but the reduced size ones are usually plenty good enough for viewing on screen!

Remember we have the video camera as well if they come back.

I totally forgot about that!

Although somehow videoing shagging foxes would just be *wrong*. At least with a camera you can put it down and whistle when they get more interested in each other than being photogenic...

Also discovered (after a couple of frustrated reboots) that there seems to be some sort of conflict between your card reader & my wireless mouse/keyboard if the card reader gets plugged into the front USB sockets - you have to unplug the wireless connection & use that USB port instead for some reason!

If you got a video of them doing it on top of the wall that'd be good for a good half-million YouTube views!

Hehe. As for if they fell /off/ while doing so...!

Hoorah for spring :D

Some lovely pics there - I do like the ones of them sat on the wall looking either way.

(And sorry about the icon, couldn't resist!)
