The Tempest meets The Crucible meets....whatever other inspirations I throw in. Bits of the Odyssey and Swiss Family Robinson entirely probable. Concept has also been described as "17th century Lost"Game would provisionally be starting in, say, May (strikes me as more of a summer game - in our garden if numbers make it sensible, or possibly go out ( Read more... )

Not that I have any idea of my availability in May (will look into it), but can you provide some linkage to the Tempest and the Crucible? I think I recognise roughly what you are describing, but don't recognise these names.

The Tempest = Shakespeare; The Crucible = Arthur Miller. The former is the Prospero/Miranda/Caliban/Ariel one with magic and islands and shipwrecks and things; the latter is about the Salem witch trials hullabaloo. The former will have free texts available online, not sure about the latter.

Danke - these now sound familiar, but still not enough that I will have read them.

I would be interested in roleplaying in London in the summer, if you've space... Plus unlike the good Cardinal *I* know the Tempest and the Crucible, at least in passing ;)

P.S. I like playing rugged ship's officers or else fire-and-brimstone preacher types.

Excellent - either is good (and you can still be fire-and-brimstone in your beliefs without being a preacher if you wanted to combine the two!), see next post for stuff about religion...

OK, roughly what year are you talking? Pilgrims gives me a far too wide range.

How would you categorise that range, out of interest?

I'm thinking vaguely James 1st sort of era, but I must admit I need to look up the English side of history a bit - the net is full of stuff, but it's all about the American side of things (unsurprisingly), which is a pain...

It's certainly not utterly fixed yet, so talk at me!

This sounds interesting! How often would you run? I doubt I could make a weekly game in London but if it's less often than that I'll definitely consider playing something. Perhaps a young woman escaping from an unwanted marriage, or similar. With a mysterious past. *grin*

Monthly, and weekend - I don't have the time in my schedule for anything more frequent than that!

(at a weekend, rather than running all weekend, that is)
