3 Hutchinson has recently released a new and interesting product. Called EyeCam it's basically a little video camera that connects to 3's mobile phone network. To use it you simply make a video call to it from your 3G capable mobile connected to either 3, Telstra or Vodafone. It sounds more like a tactical assault camera used in the military rahter than a nifty gadget thing for a mobile. A not very well thought out one from what it looks like.

That's a bit of strech! It's basically a webcam that you can call up instead of looking at over the web.

I guess you could use it that way, but the technology itself is largely neutral. For example, management could put it in a bar or nightclub so that patrons can call up and see if the place is crowded or not. Or perhaps a surf club could put one in the window so you can call up and have a look at how the surf is.

I finally got a look at this toy. Seems like a bulky little box. More like an executives desk junk than a high tech piece of surveillance.

Don't think its quite 25cms as I read someplace tho. More like 15. But definitely something you could easily bury in a junk room and use at will. The salesperson wasn't too keen to demonstrate it either... WEIRD.

He probably doesn't want to hand out the number or he'll have all kinds of people calling the stupid thing all the time. Still, you'd think he'd have a spare phone on hand with the number programmed in so that they could show it off.
