I had one of my nights without a single hour of sleep. Not even fifteen minutes here and there! I'm tired of this. I called my doctor to discuss some options and she's on vacation all week. I can't forget to follow up on this. It's not ok to not sleep!

Ugh, I'm sorry to read this :( It's frustrating as hell not to get sleep. Some nights are better than others for me. I was awake until about 6am this morning, so I feel ya.

Hehe, cute icon!

Yes, it's extremely frustrating. I've resisted going to Rx route for a long time, and if I end up getting anything it will be only for nights like this. I can get to sleep most nights, with some trouble, but will have one of these zero-sleepers now and then. I'd love to have a way to manage them.

Drugs are your friends. Unfortunately, if it stays bad, so are really boring things like managing your light levels, wake times, and general atmosphere in your bedroom.

Good luck with the doc. If you want some advice on the other stuff let me know. I am psycho about my sleep now, but having been on the absolute crazy meltdown side of not sleeping, I'll take this any day. :)

Thanks, Sonya. You mentioned light levels, and I have had success using a sleep mask on most nights that I have moderate trouble getting to sleep. It's only on these ZERO sleep nights I want to have *something* on hand to deal with it. The worst episode happened before the day I was to vacate my old college apartment. I still remember how freaking miserable that was all this time later.

I'm with you. I'd rather take a little occasional help than take the hit to my sanity and well-being!

If not sleeping were cool, I'd be Miles Davis. Wait, how does that go again?

At the risk of asking the obvious, have you tried falling asleep to TV, or low playing music? It helps me sometimes. Also I have to have a fan going all the time because I generate a lot of body heat, and the fan provides white noise to help me sleep better.

I do enjoy chilling out to the TV, unfortunately it keeps the other person in the bed from sleeping. A little music on the iPod has helped in the past, I should certainly keep that on hand as part of my regular sleep routine. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm not normally an insomniac but had a few really bad nights a-long-while ago and some deviant on my FL (I won't name names) suggested sex and/or masturbation. Win/win situation?
