Woohoo! After much excitement and anxiety, the day of the RnR Half finally arrived. I did have some momentary regrets last night, like "why did I do this to myself?" and to quote a t-shirt I saw at the Health & Fitness Expo, "this seemed like a good idea three months ago ( Read more... )

Woo, athlete lady love! And yes, there was a ton of nifty stuff at that booth and others. I got suckered into buying some headbands, but they'll be great for summer hair and for returning to yoga now that I'll have time again.

I'm still waiting on official times. I crossed around 2:45 from the starting gun, but who knows with the time it took to get through each group. At the 6-mile mark, it was hard not to think about being less than halfway done, and that if it was a 10K I'd be just about done, but keeping a comfortable pace made all the difference. Seriously, I've finished 10Ks trying to beat my previous time and felt like collapsing, and this was definitely a better experience. I guess all that training works! :)

As for doing it again, and I say this fully aware I may be in a world of hurt tomorrow, I can see myself doing more halves. There are some really cool ones out there!

Yeah and while you were luxuriating, I was busting my arse for 13 hours working Sea World Drive and Sea World Way getting the shuttles in and out. You're welcome,

Aww! For what it's worth, I tried to smile and thank as many workers and volunteers as I could along the way. And come on, I trained for like 20 weeks. A little luxuriating was necessary!

Are you planning on the AIDS Walk 10K again this year? Hmmm?

Yes I'm planning on doing it again. I'm already training for it. Hopefully this year I'll last longer than 1.5 miles.

Very cool, I'm planning to as well. If there's celebrating afterward with the same people this year, you are absolutely invited to join!
