I was in sore need of distraction today so I started flipping through channels as I had my morning coffee. Oh, my God, now I have to go back and read some of my huge, HUGE collection of ff that I have stored on so many backup devices it's kind of silly. XF was my beginning in fan fiction, and in lots of ways the best. Such gorgeous work, so many fantastic memories. Just looking at all the icons down below makes me ache. I think I was kind of broken by how they wrecked the series, it felt incredibly personal. But the journey was worth it. :)

Yes, I saw The XF 'crash and burn' and took it personally, too. Now, I look back on it with bittersweet nostalgia; I'm very glad I was able to get in on some of that wild and wonderful fandom right at its height. That was a helluva lot of fun.

Watching the pilot and Mulder's boyish face as he stares up at the sky kinda tugged at my heartstrings. Immediately, I thought of even more boyish-looking Alex Krycek in his bad suit, gazing up at Mulder through his lashes. Then, scenes from a slew of fabulous ff streamed into my head. Hallelujah for the fanfic.
