#2 The Dialogue Comma

Simple Dialogue

Rule:
    "Dialogue," speech tag.
Example:
    "Draco asked me to the Yule Ball," Pansy said.
Rule:
    Speech tag, "Dialogue."
Example:
    Pansy said, "Draco and I are going to the Yule Ball."
Rule:
    "Dialogue," speech tag, "continued dialogue."
Example:
    "Draco held my hand," said Pansy, "and asked me to the Yule Ball."


Addressing Another Character in Dialogue

Rule:
    "Name, dialogue," speech tag.
Example:
    "Pansy, go to the Yule Ball with me," Draco said.
Rule:
    Speech tag, "Dialogue, Name."
Example:
    Draco said, "Go to the Yule Ball with me, Pansy."
Rule:
    "Name," speech tag, "continued dialogue."
Example:
    "Pansy," Draco said, "go to the Yule Ball with me."
