There always have been and (unfortunately) always will be people like this. They can't feel good about themselves unless they are putting others down; it is a sad state of affairs that may get worse as the years pass.

But, I feel that good, compassionate people will always be the majority and can and will serve as examples for how we all should be. Don't worry about using bad language, 'cause sometimes you just have to cuss to get the point across! *hugs you*

I think you're right on both counts... sometimes it's hard to remember that there are also a lot of compassionate people, because the bad ones' stand out so starkly and so it seems the whole human race is bad... thanks for reminding me it's not so.
