So a few days ago, I found something I've been searching for.

Something wonderful.

Something terrifying.

Back in 1895, a man by the name of Robert W. Chambers wrote and published The King In Yellow*. This was a series of short stories and prose poetry with a rather morbid bent to it. This book inspired H.P. Lovecraft, who incorporated the title ( Read more... )

yay, I know your happy. I know I would be to find something like that. I was happy when I found GWTW online - searchable Gone With Thw Wind :D

Carcosa - a lot of fun. The con I go to in July has a Cthulhu dance party. It's a lot of fun. Basically the plot is the predictions were right, the end is coming. A meteor is on its way to earth and we will all die in the next few hours. What does your character want to do on his or her last night on earth :))

Also an interesting related note: Dungeon #134 features an adventure called "And Madness Followed", which regards a troupe of players who perform The King In Yellow for increasingly wider audiences, spreading insanity and carnage wherever they perform; your job is to track down and stop said players. I've run it before as a 2 shot adventure- great fun.
