i do love fanwood, new jersey. i really liked high school. i remember that every time i come home. i remember that my chief complaints were that the classes were often boring and the other kids were stupid and/or intolerable. i've found both of these complaints to be equally valid in college, leading me to believe that they are unavoidable side ( Read more... )

a nice post. i can relate.

but at the same time, would you really want to spend several more years, or even the rest of your life, living in fanwood? even if our high school group stayed together, we would all get bored sooner rather than later.

my first two years of high school were rather lonely and miserable. the second two were a lot of fun. similarly, my first two years of college have been alright but not great. the close friendships and comfortable routines are still developing. i anticipate the next two years here being a lot better.

i don't really want to live in fanwood full-time, but my position can be summed up by this: i'm pro-teleportation. i keep in relatively close contact with most of you home people, but the distance prevents us all from staying together. if we could all do our own thing wherever we wanted but then arrange to meet up if we had a free night, my concerns would be completely resolved.

that isn't to say i'm not a fan of college. i have a small but tight group here and the guys are like brothers. there's just something about the new jersey group that i'm very unwilling to let go of.
