Once again, I have neglected my LJ updating duties. To make it up to any remaining faithful (AKA those who still bother to read,) here's some shots from my recent CDT trip with
irisblue23.
"Como se llama?"
Haynach Lake
How can you look at this and NOT hear John Denver in your head?
Valerie's Cairn
We have been spotted by this herd of elk females.
Looking down from the top of the Continental Divide to the East side of the park and several lakes below.
You just can't take a photo up here that doesn't look like a postcard. It's effortless, beautiful, and everywhere.
Snack & Water break, self-portrait
We had to walk very close to some elk to navigate the switchbacks.
"The hiiiiiills are alive... with the sooooound of muuuuuusiiiic...."
Icy / snowy switchback of death... we did not cross this one directly, went back up and around. Also, lingered behind to help another pair of hikers do the same. There could be a body count at the bottom of this one otherwise for sure.
Theresa & Gwen (a very nice couple of gals we hiked with on & off over the Divide) took this pic for us as we parted ways. We usually love the solitude, but it was great hanging out with them!
Big Bucks
butterfly @ July campsite
Huge waterfall over smooth, flat granite.
"Hey, we were up on top of there yesterday!" In the original photo, microscopic hikers can be seen waving down at us.
I'm too sexy for this hat.
Lunch break @ Cascade Falls
If that somehow wasn't enough, join us for the whole 4 day adventure here (album of 179 photos w/ some comments.) If that doesn't do it for you, then you'll just have to come with us next year!
