So since my last bike got stolen from my brother's house, I'd been thinking about getting a new one. Man, that Giant was a good bike....Oh well.

I made a little trip to Ace Bike Shop the other day and found out that the new Giants look like a frickin girls bike and have overall feminine quality about them.

Move on to another name - Specialized. ( Read more... )

I have that exact bike but a couple years older. It's the best bike I've ever owned hands down. Depending on where you ride it you might want to grab some road tires though. The knobbies are great for the trails but isn't quite a smooth as it should be for streets.

Glad to hear someone besides a salesman pump it up. Initially, I was hesitant with the Specialized brand, but it seems that along with Cannondale and Gary Fisher, they have become the one of the mountain biking giants.

Great advice about the tires, and already ahead of you. Turns out I know the guy from the softball league I umpired last summer, so I told him I wanted to buy a bike for Shannon also.

He tells me they are having a mother's day sale this weekend 10% off all women's bikes. So I told him if I buy another bike this weekend, I want some road tires for mine thrown in the deal(around 40$ each), he agreed.

So now I just have to talk Shannon into letting me buy her a bike. though it will go against our not spending any money this summer agreement we made, since we are hoping on being out of this house by next summer.

I've had my Trek since 1996. Best bike I've ever owned. Made in Wisconsin.

Of course, mine is yellow. Only had to change the tires in 10 years.

I was shocked to hear about your accident! Take care and take it easy. See Indy! I'll be down for your cookout : ) I'm relieved to hear you were wearing a helmet!
