An ancient Egyptian stela contains a spell/prayer to Bast for healing a cat who has been stung by a scorpion. The Goddess is invoked into every part of the cat's anatomy, symbolically endowing the cat with Bast's own strength and power:Thomas' paws are Bast's paws; Thomas' eyes are Bast's eyes; Thomas' mouth is Bast's mouth; Thomas' heart is Bast's heart; Thomas' liver is Bast's liver; Thomas' belly is Bast's belly; Thomas' entrails are Bast's entrails. No poison nor sickness can harm Thomas, because the strength of the Goddess is in every part of his body!
