Lyrics of the Day

Incubus, a band named after a demon, has written some of the prettiest songs I've ever heard. Their ear for melody and harmony is almost unrivaled. They just released Light Grenades, their fourth major album (and had three or four before they hit the big time with Make Yourself). Every time they put out a new album, they take their music to a new ( Read more... )

Incubus - Dig

I am a huge Incubus fan, so yay for this post. I hadn't actually looked at the lyrics to this one, and now that I see what it's about, I do like it more. I'm partial to the more rockin' material like "A Kiss to Send Us Off," "Anna Molly," and "Light Grenades."

Some of my favorite pretty Incubus songs, though, are "Warning," "11am," "Just a Phase," "Here in My Room," "Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)," "Drive," "Wish You Were Here," and "Mexico."

But you're right with that each new album, they try to, you know, make a NEW album. Never know what you're going to get. But it always rocks.

Oh, belive me, I'm all about their harder songs. Blood on the Ground is possibly the best "Eff you" rock song ever written. The entire album Make Yourself, and it's ode to self determination while carrying and caring for each other, is an almost perfect encapsulation of my thoughts, beliefs and outlook on life (plus Battlestar Scralatchtica). And Anna Molly is just rocking my world right now. Brandon Boyd has hands down the sexiest and most versatile set of pipes in rock music today.

But their "pretty" songs are peerless. Mexico. Guh. Warning. GUH! And what a message. Brandon's mind is even sexier than his voice.

Definitely one of the most talented and creative acts around.

Thanks for the linky, P-C.

"Blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground"? Seriously!

The entire album Make Yourself, and it's ode to self determination while carrying and caring for each other, is an almost perfect encapsulation of my thoughts, beliefs and outlook on life
Oh yeah, that was my first album, and I love it. "Privilege" was my theme song for a while; I listened to it every morning to psych myself up for the day.

Have you seen him live? He's amazing. I was blown away. He sounds exactly like he sounds in the studio. The whole band does.

Brandon's mind is even sexier than his voice.
I love his wacky-ass metaphors.

Not yet. I really have to remedy that soon.
