Disasterettes?

Little disasters keep almost happening today. ... When I left home this morning and tried to open my umbrella, the umbrella part came completely and unfixably off of the handle part. One thing I really liked about New York was that you didn't have to go far to get what you needed. Unfortunately it was raining like crazy for two of the days I was there, but there was a guy right outside the hotel selling umbrellas for 5 bucks. I think my mom still has it in her car. LOL

Those $5 street-vendor umbrellas are pretty decent, too! The funny thing is, this is the only city I've lived in where I've regularly seen people, and very nicely dressed people at that, walking around holding up badly broken umbrellas. When you can buy umbrellas every 10 feet for just a few dollars, why would you carry a broken-down one?!?
