Hi, I just stumbled on your post about the Church when i did a google search just now looking to find out what had happened to the Church.
I was totally shocked when i saw the grounds of the Church torn up just 2 days ago. I did not realize that Church had even closed.
I also grew up in Colonial Avenue Methodist Church. My family was quite active there and I still have my Bible I received as a child and many memories.
I attended around 1958 - 1966. What a beautiful Church it was (and still is).
Thank you for your kind and compassionate comments in regards to Colonial Avenue. From what I understand a new congregation - not a Methodist one - purchased the church building and I wish them well and hope that they love and care for what the building means -- and has meant -- to a hundred years worth of lives that crossed through its doors.
A church is the people, not the building. It hurt terribly to have to leave that sanctuary for the last time, but at the same time with an ending there is a new beginning.
