I have the bubble rod but not the fixtures that go on both ends. I'm going to try to machine those tomorrow then post a picture of the full assembly. Having access to a lathe is proving really convenient right now.

It's awful, I have to get up at 6AM! But after I've had some coffee it's great. I posted some photos on Facebook (and I see now that FB has made the Photo app unusable, too).

We're doing manual machining for another two weeks or so, then focusing on CNC (computer controlled) machining thereafter. I'm finding the lathe the most fun to use, largely because it's a very elegant tool. I definitely admire simple, functional, and good quality tools, and they have plenty of those here. Not too high quality, mind. They are dealing with students after all, and you can just see the instructor cringe every time someone grinds gears on a mere $20k lathe.
