Having sent my mixes into be mastered after exploding the 16 month stress bomb known as my first acoustic CD I thought my troubles were over. Alas every aspect of the home recording experience is determined to be what we call "a learning experience ( Read more... )

Assuming you're not a robot in command of Dan's account, I enjoyed this comment. I wish Facebook, Twitter, etc. were all dead and LJ still was popular and in use.

As to your comment:

You would, ha.

I love to observe the levels on all the ridiculous 1999-2015 or so CDs non-stop peaking until the song mercifully ends on your 5 disc Sony changer. I've gotten to where I borderline won't listen to shit that's maxed out like that. It goes on...I go: "UGH"...and take it out.

Another I can't listen to very much is the aforementioned CD of my own! But some people seem to still like it.

But at least it was ultimately well-mastered. I ended up getting a refund from those dudes. They couldnt get it together. I sent it to a local guy who worked with Prince and he was like: "oy...that's not good."

No robots here. [markup::encode-human][-beep-][-bloop-]

It's amazing how unchanged this site is. Like, I'm transported back to 2005, puffing Camel Lights in front of a flickering monitor in my attic.

Long-form posts outside of blogging weren't destined for popularity. It's a shame. Apparently, LJ is apparently still quite alive and well for blogs in Russia - I'll let you look into that.

Regarding the levels, are they still doing that to digital media? Maxing out is fine as long as there's some dynamics. I still don't understand mastering, but appreciate whatever black magic is involved.
