SO eurovision is drawing near and it's time for kiichi to post her rankings of the songs!! Onward, worst to best!
FAILURE TIER:
Israel. So boring and lame. They were one of my favorites last year, too. :C But this is just terribad.
Croatia. Not liking this 90s old person pop, can you tell
Malta. WAAAAAAAAAN LAAAAAAAAAAAAHFFF. I liked so many songs in their selections, too. ;__;
MEH TIER:
Serbia. a lot of the songs this year are super retro and i don't know how i feel about it, but it's not great
Slovakia. It's just kinda boring that's all there is too it \(o_O)/
Lithuania. There are always ~powerful ballads~ that are hit and miss. this is miss, imo
Austria. See Lithuania comment! It starts out good but then it gets bad.
San Marino. Kinda sounds like an anime ending song??
DECENT TIER:
Ukraine. ;^; I wanted The Kukushka to win! It's slow but okay i guess.
Russia. SO BAD but it's energetic and that gives it points from me because i am shallow.
Moldova. Meeehhh, it's okay but the words just really ruin it for me.
Spain. I like the energy and the tune but she can't sing.
Portugal. Quirky and folksy, i like it well enough.
Romania. LOVE LOVE LOVE it... until the chorus starts up. :C
Latvia. Really corny, also catchy.
UK. Okay, but not great. Better than last year. Why is this eurovision so 90s?
Bosnia&Herzegovina. Intriguing but not quite up there with the rest.
TURKEY WHAT DID YOU DO. ;___; I miss maNga. maNga should represent Turkey always. Sob sob sob sob. I think i'd like this one more if i hadn't been so spoiled last year. Something about it just bothers me though.
OKAY TIER:
Hungary. Cheesy, 90s, glued to my head forever
Belgium. LOVE LOVE LOVE the concept, but the song doesn't quite work it as it could. Catchy as hell though.
Albania. Lots of yelling, which i don't like, but energy and cultural flavor, which i definitely do.
Netherlands. Pretty good! Can't complain about anything, but can't praise anything either.
Finland. Cute song, but way too SAVE THE WORLD GLOBAL WARMING!!! denmark does it better. this is sweet though, so. ALSO: the above singer looks like Peeta in my brain. so yeah.
GOOD TIER:
Azerbaijan. Catchy, good, WAY overrated, and that's what made it this low for me.
Norway. HABA HABA HUJAZA KIBABA!!! I love the energy, and i like that it shows europe's multiculturalness, as corny as it sounds. I wish she could sing better, but oh well.
FYR Macedonia. Sort of the lithuania of last year for me: hated it until i got a better quality version on itunes and then i realized it was actually pretty good and energetic!
Iceland. Super sweet and I like it! Not much other to say than that though.
Italy. LOVE it - i just wish the rest of the song was as good as the first ten seconds, but it's way classy and swanky and makes me want to start watching baccano again
GREAT TIER:
Bulgaria. Energy!! I like it and it's catchy - it's something that's stuck with me since i first heard it.
Slovenia - hated it till it came out in english, i'm ashamed to say. But now it's stuck in my head better, and i like it significantly more!
Georgia - Just really like it for some reason - it's quirky and fun. i like the HELL YEAH part :D
Sweden. DON'T JUDGE ME OK. i think this'd be my favorite if i didn't understand what he was saying. lyricfail. And if he had a different voice. but he's cute and there's energy and dancing and YAY!!
Cyprus. HNG. Love the mystery in it, especially the part where it just goes BAM at you!
FANTASTIC TIER:
Greece. Dramatic!! I didn't like it at first because it wasn't an energetic dancey number like they usually do but it's grown on me
Belarus. energy and YAY!!! : D I will dance to this. it better be in finals so i can.
Switzerland. I've had months for this to grow on me - it's just so sweet, and it's fun to sing.
Armenia. Hooked from the musical intro. Freakishly catchy, love the music bits, etc! Lyrics are rubbish, but the music and the rhythm is what gets me.
Poland!! It'd be higher but i'm still bitter about Ktos taki jak ty, so w/e. Poland deserves to place higher than it normally does. It'd be totally down with it if this song won 2011, though i don't think it'd be likely.
Ireland!! Another DON'T JUDGE ME! one. But it's just SO catchy and i really enjoy this song ok leave me alone
Denmark!! I love the rhythm to the verses and it's so catchy and a better hippie song than finland's!
TOP THREE ARE IN NO ORDER BECAUSE I CAN'T PICK BETWEEN THEM:
Germany!! "aauugh why is lena representing again" -> "this is so unlenalike whoaaah" "this is kinda... fun.." -> "HEEEEEEYYY MIND IF I TAKE THIS CHAAAAAAAIIIRRR??" i love the mysteriousness, and THOSE DISTANT DRUMS hnggg. the only problem is that i don't want germany/lena to win twice in a row :T mrrr.
FRANCE!! I'm no opera fan, but i cannot bring myself to not go OAO at this. So epic and goosebumpy
and it's beautiful and i would totally be okay with this winning. this is one of those songs that i can't multitask to - i just have to sit and listen to it.
ESTONIA!! This song is just fantastic. It's fun and cute and YOU WILL NEVER STOP SINGING ABOUT 1 2 7 3 DOWN THE ROCKEFELLER STREET!!!!! also the show is nice and the dancers are good and yay magic and GOD I JUST LOVE THIS SONG OKAY
