Boy, do I get that. I did all the first times (in 15 years) the day I put Jemma down, that night. The loneliness was soul crushing.
Except oh yeah, Jemma came back from the vet with me and was here for 3 days wrapped in a blanket in a cardboard box on the frozen porch. I had to wait till the earth had unthawed enough to take her for one last walk into the back 66 to the Pet Sematary. In a big red wheelbarrow. She would have not approved of the funeral conveyance. Jeez, that made me cry, writing that.
Take heart that your cats are in someone's home safe and sound. xo
Good luck with the move. I can't even imagine how difficult this must be. I don't know if I could leave my own cats behind if I had to move; good that you found someone willing to take them. Maybe you could come back for them at some point in the future?
Perhaps, some day, I will be able to take them back. It was very difficult. I didn't like that I had to put my future needs ahead of theirs. Animal shelters were always out of the question. I was lucky to find someone to take them who could provide a decent life. The alternatives were unthinkable.

Yep, that is a comfort. I do hope they stay safe. Thanks, Morty, and enjoy your new hell hound.
