You know, I read about her yesterday and I can't help thinking "So what?". My big question is how it can be possible that there are millions and millions of people, probably at least hundreds of thousands of young mothers and at least thousands, if not tens of thousands of breastfeeding women... and ONE WOMAN stepped up to the plate? To me, that's horrible. To me, it's a given. IF there are babies around and no food for them and there are breastfeeding women, those babies SHOULD BE FED. It shouldn't be a matter of above and beyond!
I was also rather appalled that the policewoman's baby was away from her through this whole fiasco. At least her supply won't vanish, but will he go back to nursing? Poor baby.
I'm sorry. I am not trying to intrude, I was just captured by your icon and the beauty of your website. I scrolled down and read this article and you have given me tremendous hope. I breastfed my daughter, but through lack of education and knowledge about what my own body was capable of, my milk ran out around six months and she was then deprived of the most healthy thing I could have offered her. I feel terrible about this. She is a very healthy one year old now, but I still regret my ignorance

I'm so glad you found this entry to be helpful! I don't mind you finding this journal at all, though I'm curious how you came across it. If you need help or encouragement, I'd highly recommend boobie_bootcamp and I believe there are adopt_a_mom communities, as well. breastfeeding and boob_nazis are both excellent resources for information, support, encouragement and just plain companionship, as well.
If you ever need help or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I've never nursed twins but I have been nursing for over 4yrs now so I may also be of some assistance.
Congratulations on expecting twins! That's so amazing!
I am also a member of the pregnant and married life communities. I can't recall now what exactly sent me to your journal other than then I must have enjoyed something you commented, and I think your icon is very beautiful. I am on bedrest at the moment and so I have been reading through different communities and journals just to see what people are writing about. I definitely don't have a habit of commenting on total strangers journals! That article just spoke to me and I suppose I'm a bit more emotionally engaged now than I usually am. Thank you for your kind response, and for the community suggestions. I will definitely take a look and continue to try and educate myself to avoid repeating past mistakes.
Congratulations on continuing to breastfeed for so long. You are most certainly an inspiration!
Do you mind if I add you? I warn you that I'm opinionated AND boring but I'm always open to meeting knew people. Plus, bed-rest sucks (I've only ever been on it a week) and gets lonely.
