CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Shiki Eiki (Eiki Shiki by Western standards. Her title is Yamaxanadu and not part of her name so I am not including it. Shikieiki is just her family and personal name squished together.)
CANON: Touhou Project
CANON REFERENCE: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Shikieiki_Yamaxanadu
AGE: 35
GENDER Female

TENURE: New this school year.
SUBJECT/POSITION: Guidance Counselor
RESIDENCE: On campus.

APPEARANCE:
Eiki is a tall and deceptively thin woman with blue eyes. Her hair is green and is cut asymmetrically so the right side is longer than the left. She dresses rather conservatively favoring high collared shirts with vests or jackets along with either pants or flowing skirts. She avoids form fitting clothes or anything that would accentuate her body. When dressed casually she has an obvious preference for ribbons and frills and can be seen in a dress or skirt more often than not. She also has a collection of various hats, appropriate for various occasions. If she is wearing a hat it will always be appropriate with the outfit and the event she is attending.

PERSONALITY:
In a word Eiki is uptight. Yet despite that up tightness she is a caring and patient person. She is a stickler for rules and morality but this is mostly out of an optimistic belief that all people are inherently good and with the right guidance will embrace that goodness. In her view the best way to do that is to make sure others properly understand the consequence of their actions. Most of her interactions with others involve correcting their short comings and embellishing the consequences of their actions. Yet she is always willing to give people multiple chances and really looks for the best in everyone first. Despite this optimism she is very good at keeping a neutral opinion and tries to avoid taking a side when she can.

She is generally open minded to ideas especially ones that change others for the better, she is not so easy to change herself though. Fundamentally she will not budge on her ideas of "right and wrong" and will be a stickler even for the smallest things. Despite being a stickler for such things the most she will do about it is lecture others. But if a severe enough wrong has been committed she will do what she can within her power to punish them.

Despite her age she has very little true world experience and it shows. She is awkward with others outside of a work environment and when taken out of her comfort zone can become quite shy and hesitant. Usually she is good about controlling situations to avoid unanticipated events. In general since she has a tendency to keep to herself when not working it is rare that she encounters a situation outside her control.

There are many aspects of her personality that may seem to clash or contradict each other, such as being shy, yet also a steadfast authoritative person. It all comes down to the situation, as long as she can hold herself in a familiar environment (or one that she can properly reason with) she will always carry herself with composure and dignity. It is only when she is thrown out of her comfort zone or she is unable to figure out her given situation quickly enough that she begins to falter.

COMPUTER APTITUDE:
She is not a stranger to using computers, and knows them well enough to use them efficiently. But her knowledge does not go beyond work related and above average skill. She would not be able to make elaborate custom software or hack anything. What she does have is connections though, and when she needs help with such things will use them. This is limited in how she can use it.

She can either ask someone else to do something more complex for her, or send something she needs worked on away. If she wants higher encryption on something she will request someone show her how to do the one or two things she needs to do, or send it to someone else to add to it. All in all these methods are extreme and would not come up in daily use. (Basically if there was some kind of plot where wanting better computer skills mattered. Either for security reasons or for investigation. In general she has no reason to try and wouldn't bother with the effort.)

AU HISTORY:
Eiki was born to a prominent Japanese family that has a long line of being tied to the government. Most members of the family have worked in some branch of office and each new generation pushed to follow the lasts footsteps. Eiki was no exception. She went to the best schools as a child and before graduating high school decided that she wanted to be a judge. When she graduated law school she became a legal apprentice as Legal Training and Research Institute mandates for a year. After that year she was qualified to become an assistant judge. Most of her time as an assistant was spent in the Family Court system and focused mostly on juvenile offenders. After 5 years as an assistant she was voted in as a full judge and took a position within the Family Court system.

For 3 years she worked as a judge seeing herself as an intervention. Yet, as she saw more and more juvenile crime she began to question the good she could do. Though she prided herself on fair convictions she wanted to be able to prevent these people from ever having to be in the court at all. In the end she decided that the best way to do this was to get closer to the source, and that was to work with kids more directly, to help build their moral fiber and have more influence over them.

In the end she stepped down from her position and went back to school for 2 years getting qualifications to work in education. Since she had a rather favorable reputation it did not take her long to accumulate several schools that were willing to hire her. In the end she chose Reims Academy as it had a good selection of all kinds of students despite the fact it was a private boarding school.

JUSTIFICATION:
In canon Eiki is in a position of power and authority. She is the judge of Hell and responsible for the fates of all those who die by either sending them to Heaven, Hell or on to be reincarnated. Having this job also makes her aware of the path people are taking, so she is aware when people are destined to Hell. Her personality is one that has her warn people of their fate to hope that they will change for the better. Due to her position and disposition I felt it was important that she not be a student. As a student it would be hard to reflect her personality well and the qualities that make up the majority of who she is. A teacher role reflects perfectly not only to her status but also to her disposition. Since she is the type to correct and lecture having a position to guide students to a better future is perfect. It reflects her nature of wishing for the best of everyone and her tendency to lecture people on their faults without needing to contrive something improbable to explain her mannerisms.

I chose to give her the history as a previous judge also to reflect on her canon origins. Being a judge is a large part of her personality and the way she sees the world. Giving a similar background enables me to not have to change her core too much and keeps her firmly rooted. She is an AU but she is not so different as to be hardly recognizable with these aspects fulfilled.

LOG/3RD PERSON SAMPLE
It had been about six months since Eiki started her position at Reims Academy, and about seven months since she had moved to the island. In one sense it was quite a while, yet in another it was hardly any time at all. She found herself still adjusting to the change, but not regretting her decisions one bit. The hardest part was being away from friends and family, but it also allowed her to focus more. Her goal was to get to know all of her students. She wouldn't be happy until she was able to name each one and recognize them on sight. It was important to her to be able to have a connection with them, if she could understand what was going on in their lives she would be able to assist them through their years at Reims. She could help mold them into good and successful people.

So far she was familiar with names and faces and not their backgrounds. A few students she had been getting to know more, but not all of them. Mostly it was the ones who were sent to her office often, or the ones who volunteered as teachers assistants. It was a start, and for now she was happy with her progress. Yet, sometimes she wondered if there was more she could do. The ones who were sent to her often were still having problems and were resistant to her help. It saddened her when they couldn't trust her, but she understood why. There was a gap, a gap she would have to fill with persistence.

"No matter what I will not give up on any one of you," she spoke softly to herself as a promise to all.
