What would be a good name for an organization dedicated to researching and supporting permanent ocean habitation? Sort of the marine equivalent of the Artemis Society.

Talking to Wayne has convinced me that I'm silly to be trying to polish and perfect the book before having a print version. Ship early and iterate is the Google philosophy, and I think it applies here too. That's why we put the book online from pretty early on, for example. I did some research on live-aboard boating in the SF Bay, and it sounds rather tough. Live-aboards are restricted by law to 10% of berths. The BCDC limits construction of new marinas, and does not allow anchoring in the bay. Real estate in the bay area is expensive, so many people want to live-aboard ( Read more... )

I've switched from writing HTML in Emacs to writing MultiMarkDown in Scrivener. It's much more convenient and less intimidating, so I've been making good progress on the book this week.
