Get rid of a couch

Jun 11, 2015 09:16

Does anyone know free furniture pick up services? I have an older couch that I want to get rid of. Its nothing fancy and one might say it has seen better times, but it still looks fine and i had no problem sleeping on it occasionally.

Can you post it on Craigslist, free for the picking up? Or put a couple of index cards up on your local notice boards - at groceries or co-ops, usually. It sounds like a pretty nice couch; surely someone will be glad to have it. Good luck!

I had this problem a year or so ago and ended up paying the city $50 to take it away. It's not a good time of year for furniture I'm told as the college kids who want stuff are getting ready to leave town.

Be wary of calling the Salvation Army unless the couch is in pretty much pristine condition. I had them come out once and they refused to take a perfectly good couch away because it had some small issues.

Just leave it on the sidewalk for someone else to deal with like every person on Capitol Hill.

Actually, the city only charges $30 to pick up couches. I've done it too.
