Some may say it them being grown up, but I didn't take it that way. I took it as both of them acknowledging they choose surgery over love, over each other. Couldn't believe it. :(

I know, that kind of bothered me, too. I really think that Mer only said that to shut Cristina up, but still. It bugs. And Derek is just pissy. At least, that's my take on it. Because realistically, I know that they would choose each other over their careers. Simple as that. :)

Thanks for writing this, Missy; it felt so good after that heartbreaking, nausea-inducing episode. At least there're MerDer scenes to fall back on amidst all the mid-season crap. :P
I absolutely loved this fic, you totally nailed their voices and their actions, especially with the -ahem- touching and...yes. Great job! ♥

And I completely agree with you. Mer and Derek just felt totally out of character in this episode. I don't understand how the writers can justify them choosing their careers over each other, when we all know it's not true. That confused and annoyed the hell out of me, which is why I felt the need to tack on those few extra minutes of that scene. Because really, that ending was like a punch in the gut. :P
Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Haha. Thanks again! I really appreciate your review! :)
