It’s another vacation in Portland. I enjoyed the trip in November but spent 6 hours each day working on homework. This kept me close to the downtown core, and didn’t give me much chance to get  really explore.

I have a bad habit. If you’ve eaten with me yo might have already noticed. I like taking pictures of food. At home, when I’ve made something special I pull the camera out. When out at a special meal or tantalizing snack, the camera comes out.

February 2000 Rob and I packed 8 feet of a U-pack truck and attended our last Estrella War. We filled our geo metro with the rest of our stuff plus cats and caffeine. Thus began the drive to Seattle. It took 3 days, but we landed here around the 1st of March, found our new apartment in Mountlake Terrace and began to settle in to our new home.

I got a letter from the iSchool today, officially offering me admission to the Masters of Science in Information Management program.

This was the only program I applied for. I’ve been on pins and needles, thinking of dreams and resumes for the past few weeks in anticipation. I’m pleased to accept the offer, and am dancing in my seat in ( Read more... )

I’m dreaming about Graduate School.  I typically have vivid dreams, centered around the subject that is causing the most stress, costing the most concentration.  I’m obviously focused on the application submitted a month ago, plotting out next steps depending on the response I get.

I got a bug in my ear to make soup last weekend. I was flipping through Deborah Madison’s Vegetable Soups  lamenting that I had never made any of the recipes. One for  a lentil chestnut fennel soup caught my eye,  and I wondered how it would be.

Aron and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary today. We had a romantic Tea at the Hotel Sorrento  talked about the present and the past with a little bit of the future.

It occurs to me to wonder how many iterations of “something” make a tradition. After all for the past 3-4 years we have not done Holiday gifts for the adults.  Is that enough to make it a tradition? Is four years enough to signal ‘the way it’s always been done’?
