Dear Yuletide Santa,
Thank you so much for writing a story for me! I hope you have as much fun writing it as I'm sure I will have reading it. I left my sign-ups pretty open so if you want more to work with just follow the cut.
Next to Normal - My heart breaks for Natalie every time I listen to the soundtrack. She's so lost and scared, but has an inner core that pushes her through her family's messes. While she seems to be in a better spot at the end of the show, you know it can't last with her family and their history. I'd love to see her finally out of Gabe's shadow and living a life that's hers. I wonder what her relationship with her parents will be like when she's older, and if she dates a succession of Henrys or finds a better fit. Anything goes really.
President's Daughter - Another strong woman with a really complicated mother. By the end of the 4th book, she's grow up so much, but I'd like to see her as a working adult, living with her disability. Does she fade from the public eye, or face it head on? Either way, there's an excellent story there. I've always assumed Meg would end up with Preston eventually, and I'd love to see that relationship grow, but if you want to leave them as friends, that's fine too.
Paper Bag Princess - Along with the Ordinary Princess, this is one of those books I read to almost every little girl I meet. Princess Elizabeth is clever, knows her own mind, and saves the day. Her dismissal of Prince Ronald makes every girl smile. I'd love to see her later in life on adventures, ruling her kingdom, or doing something else entirely. The options are endless.
My Boys - This show was so cute when it started and had so much potential. It was written by people who knew Chicago, even if it was clearly never shot anywhere around here. PJ kicked butt, was her own woman, and was treated like a person (not some alien species) by her guy friends. It wasn't until later that the show started falling into the standard sit-com cliches. The writers were probably trying to tie off the story-lines since cancellation was constantly looming, but it was disappointing. I was never satisfied with PJ & Bobby's relationship on the show, especially towards the end. Now that Brendan has the bar and is past his douche-bag phase, I'd love to see them explore their earlier attraction. If you're not into the pairing, wacky Chicago hi-jinks are always a good bet with me.
My taste in fic tends toward the fluffier and more romantic side of the spectrum. That doesn't mean I need everything wrapped up in a bow or happiness for happiness' sake, just that I don't particularly want to see my favorite characters put through the wringer. I love kick-ass ladies and the men who love them for (not in spite of) their strength. Character driven pieces are delicious candy for me. I don't mind smut, but am more an PG-13/R than an NC-17 kind of person. I tend to prefer canon pairings/orientations because I usually like how my favorite characters are originally written. I do have major squicks about anything non-con, so please avoid that if possible.
Most importantly, just have fun. I will love almost anything about these characters.
previous Yuletide stories I love Thanks bunches and Happy Yuletide!
