I think a more interesting way of putting it is: the world is turning into a sauna, but only on average over the globe.
I had to do a (very very) little bit of climate science for my masters, and mostly what I remember is "by God, this is complicated!" But the best bit of science I remember is that global warming is global. That means on average over the entire globe, and on average in time too.
Weather does not equal climate!
What I don't know is weather extreme weather is caused by global warming or by specifically rapid global warming?
