I was listening to the Amateur Scientist Podcast. Its a very sarcastic, comical skeptic podcast. Funny most of the time and I was listening to the Halloween Spooktacular from last year. It is just so over the top that I love listening to it again and again. If you are interested be warned that there is some strong language and some very off color

I think the idea is that sunlight purifies things (Which is why Vampires can't stand it) and it would be too harsh on ghosts as well.

Honestly did not take that into consideration. Still no real excuse but it is an optional argument to think about.

Another is that with ghosts being transparent and all, sunlight washes out their natural luminescence and that's why you can't see them.

Of course, that's all made-up fluff anyway. Scientific theories about thing that haven't been studied scientifically is like doing psychoanalysis on a person you've never met.
