Huh, sounds like the new job runs as hot and cold as Impact does. Hopefully they'll keep you. Just continue to kick ass.

Keeping the sun off the house aids in cooling, But then, planting trees and having them shade the house has decades of lead time. Awnings could help, or even a tarp. Some people hang those straw mats from their eaves to block off the sun.

Attic vents and fans can also help.
