Maybe I'd better make a public posting rather than continuing to field this in private messages:

Although I do live in Brisbane, I'm not anywhere near the river. I'm not in any danger of being directly affected by the flooding. The shutdown of public transport is really the only indirect effect on me personally.

Electricity is being shut down in some places, but so far the internet has been surprisingly constant. There was a brief two hour outtage yesterday, but that's all.
