Title: Giving Thanks
Summary: Combined Mouse, Duck, and Goof Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, I know this is April. I wrote a Thanksgiving fic.
Beta: Many thanks to harmonyangel and mizzmarvel

Thanksgiving dinner with the combined Duck, Goof, and Mouse clans was always an affair to remember.

Every year it was held at a different family's home, but this year, in order to celebrate the opening of the House, Mickey had decided to close down the club and host a giant Thanksgiving dinner for his closest friends and relatives.

And of course, it was also the first Thanksgiving since Max and Louie had gotten together.

This meant that they had to deal with the normal Thanksgiving antics, which usually involved Goofy trying to carve the turkey but accidentally breaking the table. (Max had never really understood how the ducks could eat turkey, but everyone else seemed to be okay with it, so he never asked.)

During dinner, everyone always attempted to tell the best story of what had happened to them over the last year. (Goofy always won. Which, considering that Scrooge McDuck could tell a tale of how he was tracking down the long lost Pearl of Duckhaven and ended up 3,000 years in the future, seemed odd to everyone except those who knew them best. But really, some things could only happen to Goofy. It was really hard to top tripping over your shoelace, falling down a flight of stairs, and landing with your head in a soda bottle.) And, on top of that, they also had to contend with the extended family.

It wasn't that Max was that ashamed of his relatives, at least not as much as they used to be. He loved his dad, and had gotten most of the embarrassment of having Goofy for a dad out of the way after that road trip in high school where they ended up joining Powerline live on TV.

And finding Big Foot. But really, that had been an accident.

It was more of the idea that they were going to have to deal with the family teasing and all of the wacky mishaps when really it should be about good food and being together. Well, with their family.

The entire group was sitting at the long table that Mickey had set up inside the House when Mickey cleared his throat.

"We should go around and each say what we're thankful for."

Which was, after all, a family tradition. And usually Uncle Scrooge would say that he was thankful for his money, and Minnie would drop loaded hints about marriage that Mickey would ignore, and Goofy would just be thankful that he hadn't accidentally blown up the house.

This year though, Max was just thankful that he was with Louie.

"I'll start!" Mickey continued. "This year, I am thankful for the House, and I'm thankful that our families are together."

It went around the table, with everyone giving thanks for some variation on the theme, until it came to Huey.

"I'm thankful that my brother found Max," he said with a grin.

Louie flushed a little and smiled at his brother, reaching for Max's hand under the table.

"I think we all are," Goofy said. "Now we're really brothers, Donald!" And he thumped Donald on the back, and Donald quacked and fell off his chair.

Max smiled at Louie. Maybe having the whole family together wasn't a bad thing at all.
